    Customized Boats

When I go out on a boat, I don't need a lot of bells and whistles, I am really just going out to fish or enjoy the tranquility. I have some friends who brag about gadgets and having customized boats. Just wondering - what is something that a person would absolutely need to add? For me, the...

    Moldy Tents

Just wondering - are there any good products that can be used to spray on your tents to keep them dryer? It seems like my tents get a little mildewy smell, which I can only imagine comes from the moisture that is still on them when we put them away. We do wipe them down, but somehow they are...

    Ivory soap for catfish bait?

I ran into a buddy of mine yesterday who told me that he was told he should try to use Ivory soap for catfish bait. He said he did and that it worked great! I am just wondering if this is some kind of a trick to get me to do it, but he sounded serious. Has anyone else ever heard of this?

    Snakes

While hiking this weekend, I actually saw several snakes along the trails. I know we should always look out for them, but I was a little surprised to see so many. It just makes me wonder how many I didn't see! Maybe since the weather has been kind of bad, the trails weren't traveled so much...

    Government Shutdown and National Parks

I was just wondering if this government shutdown would mean that the National Parks would be closed? I would really hate that - I need my daily dose of nature!

    How to find walking trails...

Well, I just found this site, and I was surprised to find that there is a pretty decent walking trail close to me that I didn't even know about. I'm going to check it out this weekend. I'll share the site, in case anyone else might be interested: Wild Horse Trail | Georgia Trails |...

An easy way to label your batteries.

If you carry multiple sets of rechargeable batteries around with you, you should label them so that you can easily tell if you are using the "charged" batteries or not. One way I do this is to mark the containers that they are in. If I bring 3 or 4 sets, then I place them in separate...

    Grilled Jalapenos

I love a little spice to my food, and so I usually bring along a few jalapenos to roast on the grill. They are small enough and it is easy to just throw a few in your bag. I just wanted to add that if anyone decides to do this, it is best to take the seeds out first.

    Cooking directly on the coals....

Did you know that if you need to, you can cook directly on the coals of your campfire? I've actually toasted bread and cooked some meats directly on the white ash of a fire. All you have to do is wipe it off, and the taste is actually very delicious!

    Popup trailers in windy weather....

Have you ever been in a popup trailer when there was a major windstorm outside? That can be pretty scary, let me tell you! I was in one recently and I actually had to get out, because I thought for sure it would tip over! Luckily, it didn't, but still....

    Soldier Grubs

A friend of mine who owns lizards recently told me that he used the soldier grubs that he normally feeds his lizards for fishing. He said they worked pretty well. They seem to be a little cheaper, so I'm going to give them a try. Has anyone had any bad luck using them?

Do you take a hot water heater?

I was told that there are some hot water heaters that heat up water quickly when you are out camping. I was wondering if they are worth it when you are tent camping? We heat our water over the fire, and, to be honest, we can't really take showers, unless we are out with the campers. Tent...

    What's on your I-Pod?

When I am walking alone, I do like to listen to music on my I-Pod. I like listening to The White Stripes or Queens Of The Stone Age when I am taking a walk in the city, but for nature walks, I tone it down a notch with more classic rock like Eagles, etc. What does everyone here like to listen to?

    Food Plots

A friend of mine told me that he has created "food plots" to help attract deer and make them easier to hunt. I am just wondering if this is really worth the time and effort. Has anyone had success doing this?

    What do you wear?

I know that we want to blend in and be camouflaged while hunting, but at the same time, we want other hunters to know we are there. I know a lot of hunters wear a splash of red, but animals spot this. Is there anything else that can be worn to alert others?

    Are you "serious" about fishing?

I love fishing, but sometimes there are people out there who are not seriously fishing. They are doing it just for fun, and I am pretty sure that they cause the fish to swim away, because they are just making so much noise and carrying on. Pretty aggravating!

    Single Or Double-Paddle?

I can't imagine paddling a canoe with a single blade oar, even though it is done all the time. I learned with a double-blade oar, and I feel so awkward using anything else.

    Scuba Diving

I promised to take my girlfriend on a cruise this year and I want to take this opportunity to try scuba diving. Where is the best scuba diving when you are cruising?

    Riding "sidesaddle"?

OK, I know this is a crazy question, but what, exactly does it mean to ride "sidesaddle"? I've heard the term often, but never really knew what it meant...

    Riding Trails

I was just wondering how to find "riding trails" in general. It seems like you can't just ride a bike anywhere, but if the place where you live doesn't allow it, what do you do?
