They're not really that "big". I'd think a 7mm with a hollow point or expanding bullet should suffice.

Just make sure you get em with the first shot. I wouldn't want to deal with a wounded bigfoot.

Then there's the morality of killing one in the first place.....

This is for entertainment purposes only!!:brushteeth:
I figured as much, but we have to add this disclaimer as not to irritate others who are opposed to any macho type gun talk. Trust me I know!

As for me, I'd use a revolver in 454 Casull or .44 mag, something with a scope maybe. I'm not an expert on Big Foot, but everything I see about it take place in heavily wooded ares. I think most shots would be at a relatively close distance. But that's just me.

A real man would use a knife!

Since I remain skeptical as to their existence, I wouldn't actually go hunting for a Sasquatch. It would most likely be a fruitless endeavor. However, if I happened to see one and it was moving toward me with menace, I would be obliged to dispatch it and would do so. I would of course be limited to my sidearm, a .45ACP unless I were out hunting at the time. If I were out hunting, the beast, if indeed that is what they are, would succumb to a shotgun or a .308.

I say I am skeptical of their existence but not totally convinced they are mythical. I've met some people in my life I would swear were fathered by one of them.

I wouldn't be hunting one in the first place. But if I ran into one that needed dispatching, I'd use whatever means necessary or available. As to the belief in their existance, I remain "wait and see". Their existance, in my opinion, remains to be proven, but I know too many people who's judgement and honor I trust who have had "unusual happenings" to be totally skeptical. As for the sasquatch hunters on tv, they are are a joke. If you really want to find one, get off the dirt roads or away from the cabins and get out in the wilderness. I know places in the northwest so vast, you could hide New York City and no one would see it except by plane.

Hi...

They don't exist, of course. But suppose they did? And I had to defend myself against it?

If my club were not within immediate reach, my 12 or 10 guage shotgun loaded with 000 or 0000 buck would make short shrift of the attacker...!!

I wonder how a bigfoot rug would look in front of my fireplace? :D

I'd use a .338 Winchester Magnum. It's what they use to hunt polar bears.

35mm SLR with 300mm zoom so we could finally clearly see what one really looks like

I would not want to kill one. One would hope for good binoculars, a decent camera and maybe a cam corder.

Finding a new species that has been talked about for Centuries, it would not make sense to kill it.

Although i question the existence, i wouldnt hunt it, other then for trapping it, a new species would be more valuble and rewarding to capture alive rather then shot dead

Nobody wants to kill Bigfoot...we're just asking, what would you use if you had to. Lets say it's Bigfoot mating season and you catch him eye balling you from behind some trees. He's got that glimmer in his eye and a smirkish look on his face. Now he's coming at ya...and you can clearly see the reason they call him Bigfoot!

Doh...I just scared myself!

I too have stated that I question their existence. I have also stated I am not certain they are beasts if they exist. Since they have been successful at avoiding hunters or capture since the dawn of Man, there is a distinct probability they are a sentient species. Capture, therefore, would also be wrong. But you can count on it if possible by those who consider themselves human. You know the type, their movements are so lifelike that it's hard to believe they aren't real people.

I also question their existance. And I also believe if they do exist, they are a humanoid species. I also believe that a lot of the "sightings" are mis-identifications. I know that a lot of the western wilderness' are so vast that a large population could exist and stay secluded if they wanted. However, they do not seem to be congregated in large populations.

Soon after St Helens blew her stack, there were several sightings in this area. None of these have made the tv shows, some because the people involved didn't report them and others because the skeptics couldn't blow them off. IF the reports were correct, I'm thinking the purported sightings were "critters" evacuating the St Helens area and looking for new homes because there were no more reports in those areas after that summer.

One particular case involved a ranch family in a remote area discovering footprints in the fresh garden soil. Whatever it was walked down the rows rather than through them. They also shelled the fresh peas and carefully pulled the biggest onions and radishes. There were three sizes of prints, the biggest about 18 inches long, another about 14 inches long and the third, those of a child. After repeated nightly visits for a few days, the ranch lady took a small table to the garden and left a fresh baked apple pie on it. The next morning the pie was gone and the empty pie plate was still on the table. After a week, there were no more footprints and nothing more was seen or heard of the visitors. A few months later, the Idaho State Journal put an add in the paper asking for any bigfoot tales and these people came forward. They had remained quiet up til then so people would not come running to try and find the visitors.

I'm still skeptical only because I don't know these people and I don't know if they were making the whole story up. I do know others who claim, and I know they wouldn't make up a story but their story isn't so clear cut that it could have been mis-identification.

I do know I would not shoot one unless it was clearly a do or die situation. (except with a camera of course):tinysmile_fatgrin_t
