I was looking through Pricepoint for one and was wondering what makes Camelbaks so expensive. I also noticed the Sette branded hydration packs. Are their products any good (as well their bike parts)?

From my understanding it is the durability you get with Camelbaks. I also found they do not give a funny taste to the water. Some of the cheaper ones tasted funny to me. I have heard good things about the Platypus brand too.

This may not germane to this post, but I always make sure I take several packs of gum when I'm hiking. For me, it stimulates the salivary glands and I don't get a case of cotton-mouth so readily. So, I hydrate myself when I really need it, not just to wash the taste of trail in my mouth.
