    Volunteering Locally

My son in law is a volunteer and he gets called out all of the time. But then he lives by a series of lakes and water. It's really bad sometimes because they don't find them immediately.

What age to begin riding ATV's?

It just depends upon the child. A lot are not even ready at 16. If they are reckless it's a different story. I got my grandson a four wheeler when he was 12 and he did fine on it. My son, his father, was freaking out but I told him my grandson could only ride when he was with me and then he had...

Hiking Alone Or Hiking In A Group

We don't hike too many places but when I do, I prefer to have people with me. We usually stay to marked trails so it's not a wilderness hike by any stretch.

    Do you always wear them?

I don't ever go without my life vest. I'm too old to take chances now. I know it feels much better, cooler and freer, but it's much safer to wear it and live to paddle another day.

    Fishing For Muskie

We live next to a large lake that has Muskie in it. I wind up fishing a lot for this great fish. I love to fight with them but I'm a warm weather type of guy. Have you ever fished for Muskie? Not my video but watch this guy catch this Muskie while top water fishing. YouTube - Great...

    Insulated & Waterproof

We just got our grandson a new pair of steeltoed, waterproof boots for Christmas but I don't think you could even carry them around let alone wear them! :tinysmile_fatgrin_t He is a big 18 year old and is around 6'3" tall. He walks around in them like they're light as a feather!

    Where's Your Favorite Place?

Where's your favorite place to go camping? We have a few spots we like to hit down south and spend most of the winter in. There is one close to Dade City Florida in particular that we spend a great deal of time in. It's friendly and close to everything.

    Frozen door

That would have been tough. Yeah, a Coleman torch will do it. Better yet, oil the door good before you go camping and it won't freeze up. The dratted foam on the door likes to freeze if it gets too cold outside so I oil the door up really good before we go out in the camper.

    biking on the road

I live in town but I don't work. I do ride a three wheel bicycle though and have a blast. I bike down to the library and back a few times a week. They have all sorts of programs to participate in.

    Dried Fruit

I found some shelled pumpkin seeds at a local convenience store and bought a bunch. I love pumpkin seeds! I could eat them all day. I hate to shell them though so I buy them already shelled most of the time. Good thing you don't have to worry about spitting the shells out at the campground.

    How Long?

My wife and I just take small walks. We pretty much stay close to the campground but we have taken some hour or two hour walks. But of course we are in our late 60's so we don't want to go too far. :)

The woman who drown in the keys.

What a shame! We don't do TV either so I hadn't heard of this. What a foolish thing to do, go diving without lessons! Unfortunately, the worst thing that could happen for her happened. Her poor family! I'll send up prayers for them.

    Learning To Scuba Dive

That sounds like a good, safe environment to me. I would think it would be much safer than training in a lake where something unpredictable could go on. I would rather do that.

What's The Funniest Thing You've Seen Hiking?

The missus and I were following a trial one day-it wasn't a hard one because we don't do those anymore. But what do we see but a young man and what I presume was his date. They looked like a lovely couple but she was wearing a pair of rope sandals with 4 inch platforms on them. I don't think...

    Lost?

The only time I get lost is in town. In the woods, I pretty much stick to the marked trails. I enjoy a nice leisurely walk while we're out in the sticks.
