    Red ants ate my tent?!

Thats impressive. I have no useful advice on the subject. I just wanted to share how exceptionally impressive I think that is.

How many tents are sold in 1 Year?

It is also dependent on how you want to define a tent, like do the little tents that people take to beaches count? Additionally, I would think that the number of tent sales in the US per year is probably double the population of Burning Man, seeing as that is the single largest event that which...

    Latest to tent camp

You can camp anywhere at anytime, its just a question of gear. That said, I spend most of my time in CA so I can't say that I am very knowledgeable in the area of camping in the freezing cold. But people camp in all sorts of weather. I found this: Outdoor Action Guide to Winter Camping if that...

    Rooftop Tents

I might be used to it because when I was 12-15 we had a pop up trailer, which meant that you were sleeping like 5-6 ft off the ground, so height doesn't seem that strange to me. In particular, I remember camping in Scorpion Bay and due to the way that my dad parked the trailer, you couldn't see...

    Skunk Problem

So recently we went out camping and as per my normal camping habits I woke up freakishly early. Upon leaving the safety of my tent, I was greeted by a fat little skunk, who appeared to be eating an apple core or something. All of this prompted me to quickly return to the tent. However, it got...

    Best product to fight Mosquitoes!

I never use a high concentration of DEET it is terrible for anyone's skin and a lot of people have negative reactions to it (turning bright red and feeling like your skin is burning). I've found that you don't need high concentrations of DEET so much as to regularly apply it. So I use...

    Story telling

In my family we don't normally pass around the story. But my dad likes to tell really goofy stories to the kids that usually have to do with where we are traveling. One that he has always told since I was really little has to do with a replica of one of those Olmec head statues that was pass...

    Clothesline

Definately We always take rope and almost always put up a clothes line (unless we are on the beach or something where there is nothing to tie it to). This is because my dad was (and is) a surfer, so when I was growing up he always needed to hang up his wetsuits (and we almost always went...

    Medicine man wanted

I always carry eye drops in my first aide kit. In fact the eye drops that I carry are made for allergies even though my personal allergies don't normally affect my eyes. That said, the active ingredients in allergy oriented eye drops help to reduce itchiness and swelling, which most others...

    Fruits that stay the best

The vitamin C idea seems really cool. I agree that when camping it works better to cut fruit when you are about to eat it. Anything that you are going to cut into fruit salad should last just fine in a cooler so long as it still has its peel (most of them should even last a decent amount of time...

Bug repellant that's safe for kids

I use Cutter's Skinsations. Which I like for its low deet concentration (deet has been approved for child use, but there are also a lot of natural alternatives if you would prefer for child use).

    Little critter

Thats never happened to me in a tent (other than with bugs), but apparently my brother woke up the other night to find a baby possum in his closet, which he then had to gather in a towel and take outside. I am very glad that it happened to him and not me.

    Rooftop Tents

The one that I have is from Tepui Tents and it has a foam mattress built in. I like it a lot.

    Never fits in!

My rooftop I got that problem solved by having a rooftop tent. It just folds up and fits on the roof of my car. Its a really hassle free little set up; I love it.

    Luxury tents.

I think it depends on how you define luxury tents. I think of most car pop ups or rooftop tents as a luxury tent and they do have their time and place. However a "canvas chalet" sounds a bit excessive.

    Rooftop Tents

I just got a rooftop tent from TepuiTents and wanted to express my excitement. :tinysmile_fatgrin_t Anybody else excited about rooftop tents?

    Kids and tents

I would think that it would be more dependent on how familiar they are with camping than their age. If you already know that they like camping and will want to do it a lot in the future then there is no reason to not get them a separate tent and give them more opportunities to be responsible and...

    Folder or Fixed?

I prefer folders. I don't do anything exceptionally intense with my knives (like some hunting or diving might require), so I just prefer the practicality of a little EDC folder.

    Bought some new goodies today:)

I recently got one of those rooftop tents. They are pretty awesome. I guess its kind of a two roomer, but its more like a tent with a day room attachment. I am super excited to test it out this summer.
