    Stuff a turkey?

Everyone loves my stuffing and it's really simple. The day before, I slice up an onion, a stalk or two of celery, and a red pepper. I break up a loaf of white bread into small pieces, then add the veggies to it and stir to mix it up. I add some fresh chopped parsley, a few tablespoons of butter...

Are there any snow shoe enthusiasts out there?

You know that's something that I've always wanted to try. We don't get a huge amount of snow around here most years, and I do love to cross country skiing. So that's what I do when I can, and so I've never gotten into snowshoeing.

    Trailer people question

We have a fifth wheel so have a few gas burners inside. We generally barbeque our meat outside for sure. If the weather is bad, I'll do the veggies inside. Otherwise we have a Coleman stove we use outside.

Shrimp and what to do with it

We love shrimp put on skewers, marinated for awhile, then set on top of the cooking fire. You can't beat the combination of the marinade - we use spicy and sweet, along with the smoke flavor. I can't wait to do it again. It's especially great with a nice steak on the side.

    Stepped over a guard rail...

I read about a tourist this summer at Niagara Falls Canada who climbed over protective fence to get a better picture. She lost her footing and plunged into the river and was swept over the edge. Tragic but dumb. Why do people think they put up those fences anyway?

What's The Most Awesome Thing You've Seen

My husband and I have done a lot of canoeing over the years. We're not into "wild ride the rapids" stuff. Instead we like to meander along the shoreline and just look around and enjoy the ride. One highlight for us has been seeing bald eagles. We had a good look at their nest and there were two...

Do you rough it, or bring luxuries?

The older I get the less rougher I like it. But then it all depends on how far we are walking. If it's a short walk from the car, then I'll even bring my pillow from home. To me that's the height of luxury. If it's a long walk, then it's the bare essentials.

Do You Tell Scary Stories Around The Campfire

We sit around the campfire and toast marshmallows and then we create our own scary story as a family. As we go around the fire each of us has to add to the story. It gets quite funny as everyone tries to outdo the rest of the family.

When on the water which do you perfer?

When it's just my husband and I we take a canoe. But when we bring our kids we use a small fishing boat with a trolling motor.

    Christmas Cookies

These are some of the most special times I can remember with my kids who aren't so little anymore. They always loved to mold the dough as if it was clay. Then they would sprinkle so much sugar on their special cookies you couldn't tell what color the dough was.

    The Bravest Or Craziest Camper

Years ago when my husband and I were camping out west we met a girl who was tenting it with, only her dog for company. We had a van with a pop-up. We traveled together for a couple of weeks. Since it was the fall, there were black bears roaming around. One morning we got up to find our empty...

I Want To Try Scuba Diving

We live on the Lake Erie and have a dive shop in our town. I'm thinking of taking up scuba diving next summer. This winter we're going south for a couple of weeks. I don't want to try to qualify to do scuba diving before we go but I was wondering if I could give it a try while we're on our...

    My FFFFEEEeet Are FFFFREeZZING!

I don't know if it's woman thing or not but my husband is always saying I married him because he doesn't mind warming up my hands and feet. My feet were never cold when we had a basement. Now that we're over a crawl space the floor is always cold and so are my feet.

    Boat storage

We winterize our boat and remove clothing, and anything made of fabric that isn't attached, then cover it with a tarp. One thing that works well to keep out moisture is to run a small electric heater set at the very lowest setting to keep the inside from dropping below freezing.

    Basic Camping Gear

He'll be camping from about April to October, no winter camping yet. They drive to their general destination which is property that his friend's dad owns, then walk in for an hour or so until they find a spot. His friend already has the tent taken care of. Is there a "wow" piece of equipment I...

    Cooking Over An Open Fire

I love the taste of food cooked over an open fire. The smoke just gives meat especially such a unique flavor. One thing I do have trouble with is getting potatoes to cook quickly enough without burning the heck out of them. I've tried tinfoil but they seem to take a lot longer than meat. Any...

    Too muddy

Yeah, I agree it's fun as long as it's somewhere else. We've had so much rain, everything is a huge mud hole. You can't even drive slowly without creating ruts and gouges.

    Basic Camping Gear

I'm buying my son some gear to use for camping as a Christmas gift. He's started to do some wilderness camping with a few of his buddies, but only has hand-me-down stuff. What basic stuff should I buy?

    Christmas at the campground?

I think if we ever go south during the winter, we'd spend Christmas at the campground. But much as I love camping, I love being home with the tree and family visiting even more.

Do you take your pets hiking?

No I don't think my dog could take having to stay on a leash. We have some acreage where we live and Buddy roams freely, chasing whatever has the nerve to come in sight. He's even been known to chase airplanes.
