Yeah one of my favorites. There are three very good ways to hike it too. First is just to come up from Neels Gap (Parking is about 1/4 mile from the Mountain Crossings outfitter (great store should atleast stop in)). From here look into doing the loop where you come up the connection trail, when you reach the AT crossing go stright and take the freeman trail around to the south side of Blood and then up to the peak and down the North side (the south side is an easier assent if you are doing to loop). From this parking lot you can of course just do an out and back to the top along the AT as well. Both of these hikes can be done as a day if that is what you are looking for. If you are planning an overnight and want a little longer hike, I would start off at Woody Gap and then follow the AT north to Blood, this is a great hike. Also another note is if you plan on staying the night, keep in mind there is NO water source at the Blood Mt. shelter so plan accordingly. If you are coming up from the south there is a water source at the base of Blood near where the Freeman trail meets the AT. If coming from the North fill at the Mountain Crossings outfitters (there is a spout that is open to hikers on the left side of the building by the patio area).
