In the last five years, there have been notable additions to the state parks in the USA. Most recently, California announced its first new state park in a decade, the 1,600-acre Dos Rios tract in the Central Valley, which was set to open this June 12, 2024. This park will offer opportunities for hiking, and picnicking, and plans include swimming and boating access. Wow, the description doesn't seem to be an exciting venue. Has anyone been able to get out to see the new park?

Additionally, while not a state park, it’s worth mentioning that New River Gorge in West Virginia became the nation’s 63rd national park on December 27, 2020. It’s a significant addition to the national parks system, offering a variety of outdoor activities such as whitewater rafting, mountain biking, and rock climbing.

We've bicycled most of the New River trail, but it's south, and up stream, from the gorge. It is an amazing river. Bungy jumping off the bridge in the gorge is a major attraction. I don't think I would like being attached to a rubber band and propeller off a high bridge. What if your weight and bungee calculations are off? SPLATT!
