Has anyone ever tried one of these? I saw it in the store the other day and it looks like a really good idea. I'd like to know if it is as good in practical application.

I was looking at making one to charge a MP3 player that I carrying backpacking. Just on thing to caution you about with these. Make sure that the output is high enought to charge the phone. Many of the solar charges dont work to well as they have to produce enough AMPs as well as volts to charge a device. I have found that the ones I saw that were mass produced if they seem to cheap to be true they didnt produce enough AMPS.

SOLAR LIGHT & Charger

I bought a "new" lawnmower Battery,A 400 watt inverter & a Small solar panel.
(less than $100)
Charge the Battery, during the day & light the Whole camp up @ night!
+ it will charge a phone , laptop,Etc
MY goal was to NOT use a Generater!

(obviously, NOT for Backpacking)

This is great information because I have been looking into getting one just because I have too many things to charge and wanted to use the sun. I am techno challenged so I know what to look for.

I would love to have such a thing, when our little fella goes camping he loves to be able to watch his movies which we do on the IPOD, this would make charging simpler.
