Water Rescue

Does anyone do water rescue? I belong to our local rescue squad and we are thinking about starting a water rescue team since we have several large lakes in the area. Currently, one our neighboring counties come in if we need help. Just need to know what we are in for if anyone knows.

I'll do still water rescue on the lakes or rivers here. I had the opportunity to do some swiftwater rescue training, but decided it wasn't for me after wathcing some of the evolutions.

I don't mind Haz-mat stuff, I'll do EMS all day, and Firefighting is a huge rush, but Rope Rescue (and High-angle stuff) and swiftwater are not my style.

I guess the question is where would the funding come from. There is a chance it would have to be voluntary and you would have to raise funds for what you need.

You might be able to get the neighboring county to get you versed on what you need. You might even be able to learn from them by tagging along on some of their runs.
