Over 4th of July weekend we are camping with a big group... at total of 30 of us and the group is growing... but the trip it could be more. ANYWAY there will be about 10 kids ranging in age from 11 years - 3 years... then about 6 teenagers.... what are some good activity ideas for the 11 years - 3 years kids? I was thinking maybe a scavenger hunt but other then that I'm at a loss. Any ideas appreciated.

We've made tie-dye shirts before with the kids while camping. The always had a lot of fun with it, it takes a little time and then you have a cool shirt to wear the next day. I would think any age could make one.

Guess it depends if you are in a campground where you have to keep them close. Since we go where others don't, the older ones make their own fun. (see my album "swing good time")

We usually have a pinata for the younger ones but never tell them when it starts. That keeps them closer to camp for a while. Then the Dad's go to work and start the lessons on the young ones so they can survive outside of camp. By the time they start backpacking at 7 or 8, they are pretty well versed in everything from orientation to pioneering.

Do some land navigation with maps and compasses. Have the young ones (escorted by an adult) find points. At the finall point put some goodies. I did this once at a church function and we put all the different ingredients for making Smores. When all the groups got back they combined their goodies and sat around the campfire and made Smores. We also had some of the older kids build rope bridges over streams, conduct rappeling, and do some minor free climbing.
