Boat versus walking

I remember when I was a kid we used to go to caves. They were somewhere in PA. One was a boat ride through it and the other we walked. I remember how cold they were.
Is it still considered spelunking if you are going on a guided boat tour?

Sorry, spelunking involves getting down in to the nooks and crannies of a cave where most people don't want to go. I'm afraid you just took a boat ride through a cave.

Actually, spelunking means exploring caves. How you traverse the cave isn't as important as the simple fact that you were there!

I remember going on a boat ride into a cave system in Minnesota as a child. They also allowed experienced swimmers at certain times, but I think they've stopped that now. At one point, we all had to lay down in the boat to get into the cave.
