National forest or state park

What do you prefer to hike in, a national forest or a state park? I like national forests better because they tend to be bigger and have more wildlife and less people. What do you think?

I like National forests as well because they are usually bigger and less populated by humans. They are really down to basics unlike some of the state parks.

I notice for us we need to be in the mood for one or the other and I fully understand the popular issue. For me when I started out though I was fearful of the wild life, mostly the larger animals and always stuck with smaller places.

I prefer national forests also but Wendolyn has a good point about the wild life. That's why in national forests, I prefer to go in group. I have no issue hiking alone in state parks.
