I know what you mean about it looking at you funny, camels do have very expressive faces. Riding a camel must have been quite daunting for a 7 year old.I rode a camel once when I was 7. I was in Iran at the time. It was smelly, the fur was coarse and it looked at me funny.
I haven't liked camels since....lol
I can answer the second bit, yes they do really spit they are well known for it, llamas do it too. I looked it up and apparently it is not just saliva it is more like the stomach contents mixed in saliva. They do it to distract or put off whatever is bothering them.I've ridden on elephants before, but never a camel. Could the camel riders answer a couple of questions about these noble beasts?
1 Is it true that once you have gotten in the rhythm of the camel's walk, that it is actually quite soothing and comfortable (I've heard them called ships of the desert and does this apply to their gait)?
2 Do camels really spit? Do they spit at people, or is it just a random thing?
Thanks in advance.
When the kids were younger they used to love going to a farm park, they had a llama for the kids to pet. It took one look at my mother in law and spat right in her face. At least it stopped her talking for five minutes!I hope a camel or llama are never of the opinion that I am bothering them!!
