    Hunting Respectfully

I don't hunt, but I have family members that do, and they're always respectful about it: they make sure to stay within the boundaries of the law, ask permission before hunting on private land, and follow gun safety protocols carefully. Unfortunately, my dad (who owns several hundred acres)...

    Wild berries

Fortunately, berries generally aren't too difficult to identify, in my experience. Mushrooms are what scare me - I went out foraging for them with a friend's family a couple years back and had the hardest time telling one cluster from the next.

    One Thing?

A sturdy knife is probably the best answer, but I'd personally go with a GPS receiver. A first aid kit would come in third for me.

    Photography

I recently bought myself a nice camera, and I'm excited to hit the trails and get some nice nature shots. I've got a few questions, though - first, how do I avoid startling wildlife? Second, is there any additional gear I can get to ensure that my camera doesn't get damaged by the elements?

By the time she stopped, I was hanging off the side of her with one foot still in a stirrup and my other leg barely slung over the...

    What's the Best Trail Horse?

Do you mean the best breed? I don't think there's necessarily any one answer to that. I've always ridden Quarter Horses and "mutt" horses with no trouble. Even if your horse isn't the most surefooted, there's no reason you can't practice with him to raise his confidence. If the trail is...

    What is the right age?

I don't have much experience with rock climbing, but I do know that different climbing activities have different types and degrees of risk. I'd consult with some clubs/recreation centers in your area and see what age groups they recommend for different activities and locations.
