    Camp Grounds and the Homeless

I had no idea that this was going on. Are these free campgrounds or is it all that these families can afford? It's knowing things like this when reality hits concerning the condition our country is in.

    Gatorade

Taking Gatorade along is a fantastic idea. I had honestly never even considered doing it. If you have water, gatorade and trail mix, you can go a long ways.

    Safest heater for pop up

I agree that an electric heater is the best. Make sure it is one that has an automatic shut off if it falls over or gets too hot. I would highly recommend purchasing a new one.

    Rattlesnakes and Bears

I know that rattlesnakes and bears are two things that you are often warned about when you do any type of activity outdoors. Has anyone ever had a problem with either one of these? I read about a bear pulling a sleeping 10 year old boy out of his tent at night and seriously injuring him.

    Are you really camping?

I enjoy camping in a tent or in a vehicle. To me, camping is the opportunity to get away from home and enjoy the outdoors no matter how you do it. The older I get the more I enjoy camping in a motorhome.

Do You Camp by a River?

It is a problem with flash flooding. I live out west and it can be beautiful where you are, but if it rains anywhere up above you there can be a terrible flash flood where you are without you ever seeing a cloud in the sky. It can be very dangerous.

    Christmas camping

Never thought of doing that before, but it sounds like loads of fun. Where exactly do you go? Do any of your family go with you?

    Scouting

I was part of the scout movement up until I turned 13 and then we didn't have a scout troup for highschoolers in our town. I loved it. I learned so many things from our scout meetings and I learned character and how to survive in the woods. They are one of the few groups that work with...

    Starter logs

Never used one before. If find it much easier to use a little bit of paper, some small pieces of dry wood and a match. Then I can use my fire for whatever I want to without worrying about it. I don't care much for all this chemical stuff.

    Your Favorite Hiking Trail

I am new to hiking and I need some advice. Try thinking back to when you first started hiking. What were some hiking trails that you really enjoyed when you first started out? How long of trails do you recommend for new hikers?

    How hard to drive?

RVs are actually very easy to drive, especially if you don't go over 32 feet. You just have to be careful about backing them up. They are a wonderful way to vacation with children because they can move around, go to the bathroom and get something to eat without you having to stop.

    Travel Master Motor Homes

Does anyone know the history on the Travel Master motor homes? We are interested in a used one, but I can't find anything on it in NADA. Who makes them and are they still making them? What quality are they?

    Would You Bring an E-Reader?

I would take my books along before I would take an E-reader. To me it's easier, I don't have to worry about ruining it and I love curling up under a big pine tree in the warm sun and reading a book. It just isn't the same with an E-Reader.

    Yellow Stone

Unfortunately, it is true. People continually pester them instead of heeding the park rules. I would think that it wouldn't be a very good idea to hike in the park. It's better to go by car and stay at a lodge or in a motorhome or trailer.

    Safety from hunters

Wearing bright colors helps, but sadly there are always some nuts that just shoot when they see a movement. They don't wait to identify what is making the movement. I grew up in Arizona and it was not uncommon for innocent people to be shot during hunting season.

    Mad turtle

Wow! I had no idea that turtles could be so problematic. They always seem so innocent and the ones I have seen just retreat into their shell. Thanks for sharing your experiences because I will definitely be more careful from now on when I am around one.

    Favorite Food

Whenever we are out in our motorhome, there are certain foods that I always prepare. I think our favorite is Taco Salad. It is so simple to fix and so filling that it has become a family favorite. What is your favorite food when you are out in your RV or tent?

    Campgrounds in New Mexico

We will be spending quite a bit of time this year in New Mexico with our motorhome. Does anyone have some neat campgrounds that they can recommend? Is there any place in the state that would be considered a little bit out of the ordinary?

    Camping in Arkansas

One year we stayed at a state park in Arkansas that was really neat. In the evenings they had a boat ride where they took you out on the lake and showed you the eagles' nests and you got to see the sun set over the lake. Does anyone know the name of this campground? We can't remember the name...

    Camping in a Sand Storm

Fortunately, we have never had to face a sand storm when we were camping. That would be a tough one. I think we would have packed up and gone home or at least have put our stuff in the car until the storm blew over.
