I think I could only enjoyably live as a nomad temporarily. For example, my husband and I have always wanted to hike the Appalachian trail from end-to-end. We researched it and discovered that it would take several months to accomplish the feat.Would you be able to live as a nomad? Would you miss all the perks today's life has to offer? I know that many of us are campers but could we make this leap really?
This seems very familiar to me. I did much the same.I was nomadic for years as a young person. It is a requirement for many outdoor jobs. Many are seasonal, and the rest require traveling all the time. It is easier when we are younger. At some point many people give up and want to have a more normal life with a partner and their own house.
Knowledge is still more important than equipment. Think about it. The pioneers who came west in the 1800's with nothing but what they carried in their wagons and most of that was food to get them out here? And it was approaching winter when they did get here? They didn't have gore-tex, isopropane canisters or chainsaws.Sometimes it is hard to forget about the pleasures and conveniences of everyday life when you have such quality camping equipment but once you're left without it, I don't see how anyone can survive for too long in the "wild".
