What are some of the wild animals you've come across while in the great outdoors? My most exciting story is seeing a few deer up close. I've never seen a mountain lion or bear while venturing on my own. Of course, I would only like to see them from afar.

My husband and I came across a mother bear and a couple of her babies when we were out walking our dogs. Fortunately, our dogs didn't see them. Fortunately, the bears didn't see us either. I didn't want the mother bear to get nervous with her young ones there. We turned around and went the other way. It was awesome to see the bears.

When my friend and I were out walking in the woods, we came across a rabic raccoon. That was pretty scary for both of us. This raccoon was acting very strange. We tried getting past it, but we were unable to. We tried going through a different path but got stranded so came back out to the roadside where the raccoon was. We were trying to figure out how we were going to get past it. A truck then came by and the raccoon started attacking the truck tires. This guy then gave us a ride back to our place. That had to be the scariest time.

My friend and I were also walking a different time and an owl came down and kept scooping at my friend's pony tail and kept grabbing her ponytail. It followed us back to our place. When I searched the website, I read that it was doing that to teach their baby how to get food. It was scary and interesting.

We also see a lot of deer. I have seen quite a bit of turkeys too.

Grizzly and black bears, elk, moose, bighorn sheep and desert sheep, mountain goats, rattlesnakes, pronghorn antelope, wolves, porcupine, picas, pine martens and weasels, badgers, river otters...it's really a blessing to live near the great wilderness areas in the west. My most "exciting" moment was being charged by a cranky young bull moose. Still on my "list" are mountain lions (I've only seen tracks so far), caribou, and wolverine.

I see deer, turkey, hawks, owls, rabbits, opposums, various snakes, red fox, squirrels, coyotes and bobcats on a regular basis just stepping out my front door.

Other than that, we've had several other encounters. Once while in the Great Smoky Mountains, we had some racoons get into some trash right outside our hotel room. Also, on another trip while camping in the Cades Cove area we got to see a Momma black bear and her cubs while circling the Cades Cove scenic loop, and had a close encounter with another black bear when if roamed into the campground in search of food.

On another Tennessee camping trip to Norris Lake we awoke one night to a skunk trying to get into someones trash bag in the next camp site over. Luckily it didn't spray, so there wasn't any stink associated with it.

I did some land surveying work for a little while just after I got out of college. So I got to see several wild animals during that job. Mostly squirrels and snakes. The best siting we had though was once while on a 4x4 road on the way to a work site a cat that I thought was a mountain lion stepped out in front of us. Of course those type animals aren't suppose to live in this area. I tried to get a good picture, but all I got was a picture of it's butt as it jumped over the hill. You can tell by the tail in the pictures it's not your average cat.

Elk were recently reintroduced into the area where we live, and we now see those on a fairly regular basis. Sometimes they get a little too close for comfort, they definitely aren't afraid of humans. It was definitely different getting to see them in the area for the first time since the biggest wild animal in the area before then were deer.

Hi...

Most mammals found in the U.S. and Canada. No mountain lion yet, and perhaps missed a few others, like ringtail cat. No polar bear, either.

Before feeding wildlife became verboten, the deer here used to eat out of your hand. My sister created quite a stir when seen tobogganing with a deer on board...!!

Once had three red squirrels visiting my camp. Eventually, I got one to come within six feet of me to eat some bread, the second one would eat out of my hand, and the third one would climb up my pants leg to perch on my shoulder to eat. Their claws are not only sharp, but cold, too...!!

Was almost run down twice by moose. It wasn't deliberate on their part, I just happened to be in the way.

The bears around here sometimes get a little friendly, too. But I'll be damned if I'll let one climb up my pants leg...!!

I've hunted a lerge portion of the world so a listing of the wild animals I've seen would be copious and, after a while it would become tedious.

I met this girl once however. She was riding a zebra and boy was she wild.

We had a group, passel, herd, of wild hogs invade our deer camp last year, we hunt the national forest so its not improved camping areas, If we would have let them rummage around and leave we would have been better off.. but we chose an aggressive action which led to a stampeed of around 12 hogs, we had two tents go down and some of our ice chest were turned over in the short lived stampeed.

I've seen squirrels, foxes, deers, anteater and some mosquitoes that bit me back then. Fortunately we were riding in a friend's vehicle to get to our camping site so we're safe.
