    Small solar lights

For solar lighting of any kind, you have to have decent sun exposure. If you put them in by trees and bushes that block sunshine, naturally the batteries won't charge. If they are getting good sunlight then the batteries could be defective or are old and need replacing.

    Weather messing up our plans

California is supposed to hot and sunny in June but we're anything but. Some of the parks can't even opened for summer because of the rain and hail. We've had to cancel plans twice now. It's so frustrating.

    Bikers Getting Hit

We've had a lot of bike riders hit as well. It's so scary. When I drive, I actually slow down, traffic or not. I worry about riders falling. We don't even have that 3' clearance you mentioned.

    Free boots

That's really a nice offer to make and I'm sure someone will want to take you up on it. Sizing is wrong for me, or I'd jump on it. Postage is a lot less than buying new ones, that's for sure!

Ever cooked a potato like this?

My only complaint is that it takes so long to cook. I might end up putting it on the fire and totally forgetting about it, but it does sound very intriguing.

    Rescue, please?

We hear about poor stranded hikers on the news all the time, and we have such a bunch of folks here. So, any of you ever needed some major big time rescuing that would be worthy of the news?

    Camp rules

I wish I could say that everyone I've gone with has been nothing but fun, but there was this one person who frustrated everyone. Mr. Neat, he wasn't. He just didn't want to do anything but mess up the place. Needless to say that was the one and only time he was part of our fun.

    Eco-Camping

Actually I need to investigate this more because I just haven't paid that much attention to the differences in sites. I guess we just get into habits, and they aren't always good ones.

    Deep water fears

Nah, it doesn't bother me at all. I love being on the water, wherever I am. It's a fun that never gets old. Of course, I do believe in having a life jacket on and having safety precautions.

    Surviving the Cut

    They definitely only show the surface. I watched them all, too. It's terrifying, not fun. I remember on one show they talked a lot about only being able to show so much of the process -- classified. ;}

    Singing/Whistling

Hey guys, when you go hiking, do you ever sing or whistle? We didn't used to but then we saw this old Chevy Chase movie, and it was so much fun, that we started doing. We don't it all the time, but sometimes, it really is a kick.

Tent, Camper, or Under the Stars

Everyone has more fun camping their own style. I think it's the most fun when sleeping under the stars, like the cowboys did. What's your preferred way of enjoying camping when you sleep?

    Magazines

Do you read any magazines dealing with the outdoor life, like Outdoors or Yachting? I get a lot of ideas of things to do and places to go someday from reading them. The scenery is so inviting.

If you couldn't go hiking, what would you do?

Go for long walks in your neighborhood seems like the answer to me. It may not be hiking, but it's still lots of fun to walk where you live, be out in the open air, and you might even meet some cool people.

    ATVs in the neighborhood

Fortunately, the people in my neighborhood realize what ATVs are for. I've never seen one being ridden on city streets, or even in the county. I don't think there is anything you can do about it, either.
