@Oldmangunner-I don't think it's as much learning as it is practicing. We used to gig bullfrogs for frog legs and it's not easy. We did it at night as opposed to spear fishing which would be done during the day. You have to have a shallow area to spear in.

I would have to be desperate to try. And yeah, I get the starvation thing. It would have to be pretty bad though for me to try it but if it came down to that or starving to death, I'd eat them plus a whole lot more.

You have to have a long handled pan to pop popcorn over a fire. Also you have to shake it constantly or it's going to burn. When it's almost done (a pop here and there) remove it from the fire and wait a bit before you open the pan because it will continue to pop for a few minutes.
