    Setting Sails for Unknown Territory

Do you ever just set sail and see where the wind and waves take you? I enjoy just exploring different places and would often sail to the small outlying islands off the Coast Line of Mississippi.

    Kinds of Guns

What kind of gun do you like to hunt with? I still have the old 410 that my dad bought me when I was a kid. He has another one that is a twenty-two that transforms into a pistol I am going to buy from him. I don't know if I will ever hunt with either of them but I want to keep them.

We have been given the chance to buy a camper for $300 it is in fair condition just missing the mattress and curtains. What else should I check before I make this purchase and does it sound like it is a great deal?

What Does It Take To Get On Your Nerves

I hate it when people bring their children and just let them wander around and not watch them. I remember a particular time when a four year old girl showed up at our camp site and we couldn't find her parents. After dark they finally came and got her and only after a ranger had to tell them...

    Cane Pole

We have a pond behind the house and when we first moved here there was sugar cane in the back yard too. I cut it to the appropriate size for my kids and made them cane polls. They had so much fun fishing, they still have the poles 3 years later.

    Slingshots Anyone?

My dad used to make them for us when we were kids. Unfortunately, I don't remember where he got the rubber for it but I know he would find sticks and cut them for it.

    Hunting Bears

I have to agree, I wouldn't want to shoot a bear with a crossbow if I wasn't absolutely sure I was gonna kill it with the first shot.

    GPS units

I always use maps and a compass but like someone else said I am thinking of getting a GPS system. Can anyone recommend a good one?

    Velveeta Cheese

My grandfather used to fish with slices of hotdogs and white raisins. He would catch some of the biggest and best fish with the white raisins, I never figured it out.

This does sound like a really fun trip for you. Sorry, but remember the good times you have had camping and check the weather forecast next time.

    Head or tails?

We have always slept with our feet at the door of the tent. I don't know why maybe it was the way my dad did it when I was growing up.

    Wet feet

I suppose if your feet were to sweat and then they got cold it could make you sick but typically just sweaty feet don't hurt anyone but the people who have to smell them when you pull of your shoes.

    Tent or Cabin???

I think I would go for the tent too and depending on where you set it up you may be able to put a small heater inside to keep you warm.

    Argh- dangerous

Dinosaur, you did a good thing, I have seen to many kids get out in the real world and go nuts. As far as the snowmobile goes Dinosaur also had a good idea maybe if you talk to your husband about containing the speed until your son shows you he can be responsible. I broke my arm after I was in...

I carry along a roll of red flags and tie them to the branches of trees on the way out. I have always done this since i had an Uncle that got lost and almost went into a diabetic coma.

    Guns and kids

One difference is we were taught to respect what a gun could do and it seems things are really different now. We didn't get time outs or grounds from phones and games, we got our butts torn up and knew we would if something went wrong.

    Myth or Fact

I saw a post asking about what kind of snakes can swim so I thought I would add this thread as well. Have you ever heard that a snake cannot bite underwater? What do you think? I think it is a myth because anacondas and other snakes have been seen attacking underwater.

    Group or Just Family

I think it depends since I like to do both. There are certain times when bringing a group along is great like holidays such as the fourth of July. Then there are those times that I just want to be with my family and spend some quality time with them.
