    Would you go ice fishing?

OM Goodness! That's horrible! The poor man. I would like to try it once just to see what it's like. I'd have to go with someone who's done it before though, so I didn't pick a place that was too thin to stand on.

    Feeding The Birds

Who else feeds birds during the winter months? We love to and have set up a feeding station outside of one of our windows so we can watch them. We call it CAT TV or CEN (Cat Entertainment Network) because all three of our cats take turns watching the birds come to the feeding station. It's...

    Biscuits On A Stick

I'm pretty sure it was just run of the mill canned biscuits. Of course you have to back off on the heat because they will burn on the outside and not cook on the inside.

    How About Horseback?

Oh gosh! I love to ride. There are a lot of places you can go on a horse that you can't reach by foot or on an ATV. I ride all of the time. We have a farm and a couple of horses that we trail ride a lot. We join a few other couples and ride into town for dinner occasionally. We live near a...

    Christmas Gifts

Oh-ME, ME!! I want camping stuff for Christmas!!! I need a new pair of boots. Mine are on their last few miles. I have a pair picked out and my husband knows what they are and where they are. I don't think I could be any plainer about what I want. Bless him. He doesn't take hints well. :P

Do you camp in your backyard?

Yes we did. My niece had an all girl camp out on a local farm for her 17th birthday party. Of course I was the chaperone to make sure none of the boys crashed. But we have camped out in the back yard a lot of times. We do on the fourth of July all the time to watch the fireworks from the...

How Did You Learn To Wilderness Camp?

How did you learn how to survive in the wilderness if you are stranded somewhere? Did you go with a relative or did you just wing it? I learned how to wilderness camp with my Mom and Dad when I was a child. I know a lot of the plants in the area where I grew up and we would camp out for our...

How do you know what is safe?

I'm an RN and I work at various clinics as a float nurse. We had a guy one day come paddling into our little ER on his bicycle. He had been camping at a nearby wilderness area and he thought he had eaten the wrong mushrooms even though he had a book on wild edibles. We wound up pumping his...

Have you ever let a friend camp in your back yard?

I've never had anyone in that type of circumstance before. We have had visiting relatives who have camped in their motorhome in the back before but it was luxurious! I would love to have one of those big ones but we have just as much fun in our little tent!

    spelunking beginner

OM Goodness, I could never, ever go into a cave. I keep thinking about the movie "The Descent". I know it was just a movie but thinking about being down there with no light but what I brought with me just creeps me out. :tinysmile_fatgrin_t

    Biscuits On A Stick

I was talking to my sister's son the other day and we were discussing what he wanted for breakfast the morning after he spent the night with us. The conversation got around to biscuits and he made the comment that when he was in Boy Scout's they had taken canned biscuits and wrapped them around...

    Roadkill?? Really?

They waited because the state police had to come out to make a report on their truck (which was drivable). They said the insurance company they have made them wait to get the report for verification that it was a wild animal hit and not a vehicle hit. I've never heard of it before but I guess...

    What's the silliest/most obvious thing you've forgotten?

Well, I hate to admit this but I forgot my underwear once. We had to stop in the town before the campground and let me buy some new. I WOULD NOT have gone without it.

    It was SO COLD!

I don't like cold weather very much so I tend not to camp when it's freezing cold outside. Sometimes I do wonder what would happen if we had to camp out all of the time. Then I'm grateful for being in a nice warm home.

    Craisins

OM Gosh! I *heart* Craisins! I have a scone recipe somewhere that uses them and it is heavenly! You use real butter in it and they are like something that comes out of a bakery. I really like to eat them just plain too but in cookies or baked goods they are delicious.

Strange wake up call this morning

OM Goodness! I bet that cat was smelling for fish. They get into more trouble than any other animal. I have one cat who gets up the trees and can't get down. I have climbed ladders more than once for that little boy and I'm getting mighty tired of it. Next time he is not too high up, I...

    Roadkill?? Really?

Some guys that live across the road from me hit a deer the other day with their truck. They picked that deer up and brought it home and dressed it out. They didn't even get to bleed it since it was already dead too long before they got to bring it home. Besides that deer that have been hit...
