    Fire Ban

I've heard that from quite a few places on the East Coast. It seems that while some got an excess of water in some areas, others didn't get enough. It's a shame that it doesn't balance out for all of us but I guess that's not the way it goes.

    Harness?

Totally agree RatherBRiding. When you get that high, even though it's not much, you can get hurt if you fall wrong. You really need to put on safety equipment if you are going to climb any height at all.

    Shake-powered Flashlight

That sounds like a wonderful invention! I will have to get one of these so we can at least have something for backup. We carry the little LED flashlights and my husband has a Mag-Light that he takes. We usually have quite enough light.

    Wild Animals Being Agressive

Gee, that is scary. Usually we try to avoid any animal and they usually try to avoid us. So far it's been fine that way but it sounds like that one was out for blood. We have a population of coyotes that is growing every day in our area. I'm afraid we may have to have a coyote cull, I would...

    Bears?

I've been to the Smokies on vacation and went to Cades Cove to see the village. Bears are usually every where and people are so stupid. We saw a mother bear with three cubs and people were pushing their kids toward her to get a picture. I left but I didn't hear of any mauling. People can be so...

    Traditional Tent or Easy-up Tent?

I enjoy my easy up tent. It's quick to set up but it does still have the hold down pegs. I can set up very quickly and get down to enjoying myself when I get to the camp site.

Chili Cook Out in South Carolina

Our area has a chili cookoff although I've never entered. I'd love to be able to come to your chili cook out though. It's always fun when a bunch of people get together and cook! :tinysmile_fatgrin_t

    Swimming in lakes.

Our local lake has a beach made for swimmers. It's a super place. They keep it very clean and there is a lifeguard on duty at all times. They also have showers for afterward. They have it roped off for everyone to know where the safe parts end. They put in a lot of sand and cleared the bottom...

    Beer can chicken?

I think I've heard of people using other beverages such as 7-Up or Dr. Pepper as the base. I have never tried it but I have a friend who makes it sometimes during the summer. She has a special rub that she uses though. She also sprays the chicken with olive oil before she puts the rub on.

    Anyone Else Ever Been Thrown?

I've been thrown so many times I couldn't count it if I tried. I haven't been seriously hurt-yet. But I love my horses and take the chance with new ones sometimes. Someone's got to break the colts and fillies!

    Pop up trailer/folding trailer

I think they are. You would be amazed at the things they can put into one of those little things. My son's has two beds, a refrigerator, a stove but no shower or toilet. They do sell some that have a shower/toilet combo.

    Bringing Home Wildflowers?

I have gathered wildflower seeds before at this time of the year to bring home and start on my land. The only thing is you have to be sure it isn't an invasive species that you are perpetuating. I have found some really beautiful plants and I think I help to keep them from becoming extinct if I...

    Buying a pocket knife.

My dad always had Case knives and always loved them. He had some that were really old and he kept them sharp enough to cut anything. Most of those weren't very big though. I still carry one of his in my purse but I have to be careful. Some places will prosecute you if you carry any size knife...

    Favorite Trail Mix?

Ummm, let's see. I like peanuts, walnuts, pecans, raisins, dried cranberries and blueberries. Then I usually will put other things in that I have in the cupboard that needs to be used before they get old like dates or figs. I love, love, love trail mix and eat it all of the time, not just when...

    what to pack

I know it's sort of a habit but I bring something to read and something to work on (knitting) when I go hiking overnight. I have to have something to keep my mind and hands busy. Can we say ADHD?:tinysmile_twink_t2:

Have you ever ridden a bull?

Mechanical-yes. I rode one at my high school after prom. We had a mechanical bull and a lot of other things to do. I didn't stay on very long, I don't even know if you could say it was a second or not. One big lunge after the slow warm up and I fell off. We had foam everywhere though so I didn't...

    what to pack

Don't forget an extra pair of socks! LOL I can't stand to hike in sweaty socks after a certain amount of time. I would have to stop and wash some out if I had to. Of course water and purification tablets would be in the mix too.

    No Potable Water

I don't think I could stand to drink it unless I was so near death I had to. I guess if you got to that point though, you could drink animal blood if you had to. The dead animals and urine part gets to me! *shudder*

    Cow As Horse?

I've seen this a few times but I don't know if anyone else has. Have you ever seen someone have a steer or cow they could saddle and ride like a horse. I've seen one in person but I've seen one on the internet that was a huge steer with horns and the guy had a saddle and bridle on him and was...

Could you live in your camper?

I don't see that happening for me-I hope with all my heart. I feel sorry for those who have had to do this. We met a couple who were living in an old abandoned school bus and had put a wood stove in it and were doing OK. It was a shame though that they had to do that. But if you have to do...
