Checking the list before coming home

I know most of us make a checklist before going to camp to be ascertained that we don't forget anything needed during the camping trip. Do you also check the list again before leaving the camping site to make sure that you leave nothing on the site?

    Digging up your own bait.

Interesting. I have never tried the trick. Wouldn't the worms freeze if you put them in the refrigerator? I know some vegetable caterpillars which still be alive after put in the refrigerator for a few days.

    Local people

Especially when you were trekking abroad, have you ever meet local people who advised you to do or not to do this or that, based on their local belief? Did you do it accordingly?

    Lures, flies or bait?

Fly fishing is more like art, especially the casting and fly tying. I admire people who are expert in fly fishing. I myself, being not good in any art, prefer to fish with bait and lures.

    With your spouse

Are your spouse as fond of fishing as you are? If so, that would be great as you would have the best companion in your fishing trips. :) I wish my spouse at least didn't fishing.

    What age to start fishing?

That great Jason. By letting her fish the plastic fish, you have taught her catch and release fishing as she wouldn't be able to eat the fish. :D Is she the 30 pound kid you put in the pack when you are hiking?

    Counting stars

I read another thread here talking about sleeping under the sky in the camping site. It makes me curious. When you are laying on the ground before sleeping, do you... well, count the stars?

    For exercise?

Yes, hiking is much more fun yet less tiring than jogging or other vigorous exercises. And the best part is that when hiking, you can burn a lot of calories without feeling exhausted.

    What age to start fishing?

You don't need to directly teach your kid to cast, hold the rod or land the fish in the first place. The first thing I learn from my father was putting the bait on the hook.

    Who Do You Take?

That sounds like a great plan. I hope it's not too great for you to handle LOL. Your kids would be very grateful that you allow them to take their friends in your upcoming trip.

    have to share!

Congratulations! You must be very proud of him, and I would if I were you. When did he start learning to fish and deal with bass? Of course he learned if from you, right?

    Hitch-hikers

Yes, I remember that time also and I miss it. Helping people was and is still rewarding. Unfortunately now it's not rewarding the way we expect it is.

    Pocket Knives

I am not sure about that. I don't want they hurt themselves or their companions. But I think a nine year old child should have been responsible enough to bring a pocket knife with him.

    Trap In Another Country

That would be a scary yet thrilling experience. I wouldn't want to get trapped in another country that way. But if I were, the first thing I would do is contacting my Embassy or Consulate in the country.

    The oldest trekker

That's a very good habit of your grandfather. Yes, being a low impact exercise, walking is suitable for everyone of every age, especially for aged people who don't usually get into vigorous exercise anymore.

    On the moon

Have you ever dream of hiking or trekking on the moon? I would love to try it. I think it would take less effort to walk through the trails so that we could walk faster and easier.

Anyone Besides Me Use A Walking Stick?

I don't usually bring a walking stick when hiking as I wouldn't need it. I don't know, I feel old when walking with a walking stick. Moreover, I don't want the hassle.

    Monkeys

Did you ever encounter monkeys along the trails or on the sites? I have mixed feelings about them. They are unpredictable. Some of them are friendly and even willing to take food from your hand. But the other are just so wild and untouchable. Anyway, both types steal food. :tinysmile_hmm_t:

How Important Is Photography To You?

It's necessary for me and I rarely forget to bring my camera with me when we go trekking or hiking. I take almost everything along the trails and on the sites, like forests, trees, valleys, cloud, wild flowers, everything.

    Water or sports drinks?

Just plain water please. I never got into sport drinks. They may get you fresh and energized instantly, but I wonder if it's healthy as well. Though, I don't mind to take natural sport drinks like coconut water. :)
