    Taking Little People Camping

It almost seems like it would be easier with a baby, as opposed to a toddler....when they learn to walk, you gotta watch those critters every Second ! Especially if you are near water.

    Another newbie, saying Hello !

Hey Rocky, thanks for the welcome. Yeah, the McCloud area is beautiful. I haven't done any camping there, but have been thru there some. My former in-laws live near Fall River Mills, so have seen a lot of that country. Have you been in the Trinity Alps at all ? Similar to the Sierras, but less...

New to site, just saying Hello!!

Yeah, you would assume that no State Parks means no park Rangers ! It's a free-for-all ! (might bring your own water, though....in case they turned it off....:) )

    Camouflage

Wow, Grandpa...talk about dodgeing a bullet ! I bet that kid is wearing brighter colors Now! My favorite camping garment is a hooded pullover I bought in Estes Park, CO...made by some natives in Chilie, I think. It has just about every color in the rainbow, is very warm and about the ugliest...

    Camping to treat depression

Yeah, it's kind of ironic that most people with depression want only to hide and isolate themselves, when getting up and out is likely the best thing for them. Been there. Have never really considered camping as a possible cure, but it makes sense. Being in a place that inspires you, no big...

    Another newbie, saying Hello !

I think he'd go if I could get him up here from So. Cal. I think he misses it more than he thinks. I'd go down there, but he lives out in the high desert.....not my favorite terrain...:tinysmile_tongue_t: He grew up in the Rockies, so the mountains are in his blood ! I love your signature...

    Taking Little People Camping

Don't know if it's their first child, but I've noticed some parents are overly cautious with the first baby....especially the moms. I bet when they have another, the thought of taking them camping won't seem as big a deal.

    Another newbie, saying Hello !

Well, you're only as old as you feel, right ? I'm only 48, but startin' to feel old age creeping up on me....sometimes it's not the years, but the milage....:D I took my dad packing in the Trinity Alps, west of Redding, CA, about 5 years ago. I was amazed at what he could still do, and we had...

    Crafts At The Campsite

We do a 3-4 family trip every summer with 15 kids between us, usually at or near the No California coast. I'd always wanted to do sand candles, so a couple years ago I brought enough stuff for all the kids to make one. What a blast ! The kids gathered up rocks and shells and twiggs and bits of...

    Another newbie, saying Hello !

Thanks, Grandpa ! Yep, most of my best memories as a kid are camping and backpacking with my dad. I'm trying to take my boys back to some of the places I remember as a kid while I still can. Would love to get Grampa out as well, but at 72, he's not as keen as he once was....;) His days of...

    Another newbie, saying Hello !

Just joined and have enjoyed reading some of the threads here. I look forward to learning from y'all and maybe even make a few new friends. I have camped and backpacked my whole life, mostly in the Sierras and California coastal mountains, but have not gotten out the last few years much. I am...

    Camping to treat depression

You know, now that I have a trip planned in July, and have told my kids about it.....I'm already feeling less depressed ! Evidently, I have been long overdue for this.....who knew ? :D

    Camping to treat depression

lol...yeah, it depends on who I'm camping with ! My ususal camp-buddy and I are pretty content to sit in a chair and read most of the day, with the beer drinking commencing when ever one of us happens to think about it. :tinysmile_hmm_t: Otherwise, I'm with 2 or 3 other families with kids...

    Camping to treat depression

I would totally agree that camping reduces stress, and depression as well. No electronics, no phone calls, simple lifestyle with only simple decisions to make. Lots of time to just read, relax, explore, talk with friends....Sleep ! I have not been in WAY too long, but am going in July and I...
