What are the signs that we could distinguish if danger is coming? For example, flash floods while hiking along the banks of a river or rock slide while hiking on a mountain?

Spring time is the best for me as nature is springing up into life. I love the breeze of this season as it is cool and gets me going on my hike.

    Remedy for Blisters

Correct fitting and comfortable socks will prevent blisters. When you already have blisters, you can try putting toothpaste on the affected area. It will soothe the blisters. This is a personal experience but prevention is always better than cure so get good socks and shoes that would exactly...

    Cooler corn

That's an interesting way to cook corn. Do you think the cooler won't get damaged when hot water is poured into it? I guess this is useful when camping out but I will just use the pot when I'm at home.

    I never leave home without...

I always carry my keys and my cellphone whenever I leave the house. It is like I'm naked without these two things in my pocket.

    Road Trips

I like driving so road trips are fun to me. I just don't like driving on a desert where the road is straight. What I like most on road trips is when I drive along the coastline.

    Used or New Equipment

Is it always better to buy equipment that are new instead of used ones? I am considering to buy an army tent by a friend of mine but I don't know if this is a good thing.

I had the privilege to ride a horse while traveling a mountain in Mexico last month. That the first time I rode a horse for 2 hours and it hurt my legs after reaching our destination. Is this normal or am I getting old? :tinysmile_fatgrin_t

    Eating What Nature Provides

If you can forage, hunt, or fish then you will surely survive in the wild. I have to say that foraging is the hardest for me because I don't know all the edible plants. I guess I need start reading about edible plants to prepare me for future explorations. :)

    Outdoor TV?

This is great when you don't want to miss an episode of the TV show you are watching regularly. I don't have a cellphone that can access TV shows but I think my laptop can do as long as there is a signal where I'm going.

    Bringing Portable Game Consoles

I'm with 3ofusnow. The kids can bring their games or iPod's because there are times in the trip where it is really boring. Say for example while traveling or trying to sleep at night. The children can play with their own games at those times but not while hiking.

    Lodge on Water

Have you tried sleeping on a lodge that is floating on water? I have tried this in my friend's place last month. They made a floating lodge that is firmly roped to three posts at the bank. It feels like I'm in a ship without the noise.

    Firm or Soft Mattress?

I'm sorry to hear that. Try using a not so hard but not so soft bed. We have a back-saver bed and I think this bed is moderately hard.

    Turkey Calls

I don't know if calling it without a bait would succeed. I don't know what kind of calls they will answer to but I try to imitate the male turkey when I'm near a turkey. Maybe live earthworms will help you catch one.

    Sleeping Bags

There are some people who use only sleeping bags when they go out camping. I can't stand sleeping on sleeping bags because wild animals might attacked me while sleeping. Insects also can disturb me if I'm not inside a tent. Have you tried camping with just sleeping bags?

Aroostook Park expanding with 145 acre purchase

Bless her soul for giving a big chunk of his property for the benefit of all. I hope the bureau will place a reminder that the additional lot was given by Nancy in acknowledgement of her benevolence.

What do you do if you are being chased by wild boars?

Wild pigs tend to avoid people unless we come near to their den, in which they will fight to the death. We can avoid these pigs when we see them or run away if we can. Climbing trees is the best alternative if ever we are attacked by wild pigs. Make sure that trees don't have beehives. :)

    Sailing on a river?

I think this is possible depending on how deep the river is. A sailboat on a shallow river will surely attract disaster. There are sailboats that have motors in them so that sailboat that you saw might have one too. They could use the motors when there is no wind to move the boat.
